I was finally referred to an orthopedic specialist for my WorkComp claim. Dr. Serocki was very nice and very up-front about what was going on. After discussing my situation at length, he agreed that I was a likely candidate for surgery. However, before I go under the knife, he wanted me to try one more round of physical therapy especially using a particular machine which isolates the core/back muscles. I am ready to try anything and leave surgery as a last resort, so he will refer me for two weeks worth.
I told him I was upset at the way the "doctor" at US HealthWorks keeps telling me that I have a pre-existing condition and acts like he wants to get rid of me. He said that was inappropriate and asked about my ergonomic evaluation at work. We agreed that since my chair was being replaced and other improvements to my cubicle forthcoming that perhaps work had created my back pain or at least worsened it.
