I just scheduled a 2-level fusion with Dr. Mark Nelson for Friday March 13th at 7:15am at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. His nurse assistant will call me back tomorrow to confirm. I am definitely nervous, but I feel like this is the right decision. I suppose it is possible that I could postpone, but as of this moment I am ready to go.
footnote 1: I move into my new apartment this weekend, so I will be living somewhere with more peace and quiet for an improved recovery. Slowly moving things over to the new place every day this week has definitely not been the best thing for my aching back. Looking forward to getting settled and relaxing over the next couple of weeks....
footnote 2: I hope to talk to a couple of more people at work who have had fusions next week -- Beth L. (whom I've talked to before; she has had two fusion surgeries -- same location? not sure) and Greg B. (do not know the details of his procedure at all). I am hopeful that talking to them will be a positive and encouraging thing, since I am still very nervous about going through with this....
