Second attempt at these injections with Dr. Dobecki doing the honors. Objective is to determine what percentage of my pain is coming from the facet joints versus the lumbar discs. First go-round was fairly inconclusive as I was feeling pretty good and my pain level dropped from a 2 to a 1.
I have a feeling that things will be different this time. For one thing, I plan to stop taking my medication tomorrow evening, so I should be feeling good and crappy on Wednesday for the procedure. The other factor about which I am frankly quite alarmed is that I am having significantly increased pain on my left side, pretty much exactly where I would anticipate facet pain. My back started really hurting after I drove back from seeing Dr. Delamarter in L.A. and stopped doing physical therapy at MHPT. And it's never really improved! Maybe it's some sort of psychosomatic (psychophysiologic) reaction to Delamarter pointing out my left facet arthritis, or maybe I'm just more aware of it now. But it definitely hurts badly. My pain level is consistently coming in around a 5 nowadays. The scary thing is that I really hope I haven't waited too long and precluded myself from being able to get a disc replacement!
